Special Advisor to the President and Chancellor

Special Advisor to the President and Chancellor, Brett Anderson is a 1987 alumnus of Colorado State University. He returned to his alma mater after retiring from a successful business career at global business and technology company Accenture. Anderson was the global managing partner of Accenture’s Communications and High Tech Customer Relationship Management practice and managing partner of the Denver office of Accenture. He joined Accenture in 1987 and was named a partner in 1999 and retired from Accenture in 2008. While at Accenture, he had oversight for more than 5,000 people and $2 billion in operations. Among his responsibilities were profit and loss for the division, ensuring the growth and development of the global practice and professionals, developing and overseeing relationships with strategic ventures and alliances, and serving as an advisory senior executive to several global strategic accounts and C-level executives.

As special advisor to the President and Chancellor at Colorado State University, he works on strategic projects and provides leadership to all three campuses within the Colorado State University system.  Anderson also works to build the University’s profile and relationship with key constituent groups.  Prior to becoming the special advisor to the President and Chancellor, Anderson was the Vice President of University Advancement for nearly 9 years at CSU.  He oversaw the alumni association, donor relations, development communications and all private fundraising efforts, including overseeing CSU’s best-ever fundraising year for four consecutive years.  Fundraising nearly quadrupled while Anderson was at the helm culminating in nearly $200 million in private support in his final year as Vice President. Anderson oversaw the completion of the first Campaign for Colorado State University, which raised more than $537 million from 2005 to 2012 and he launched the next campaign which the university recently completed raising nearly $1.3billion.  As an alumnus and volunteer, Anderson has a long history of involvement and volunteer service at Colorado State, including chairing the Corporate and Foundation Relations Committee and the University’s Development Council. He served on the Mechanical Engineering Advisory Panel, received the Colorado State Personal Service Award, and the 2004 College of Engineering Distinguished Alumni Award. He has also been an active volunteer with the CSU Alumni Association. Before his appointment as vice president, Anderson served as a consultant to CSU in the Denver area, leading efforts to strengthen Colorado State’s presence in Denver and building strong connections among Denver-area alumni.

Anderson is a native of Colorado growing up in Fort Collins and now lives in Timnath, Colorado.  He serves on several non-profit boards and is actively involved in the Denver business community.  He is married to his wife Dawn and they enjoy skiing, golfing, running and traveling.
