Kauline Cipriani
Vice President for Inclusive Excellence
Dr. Kauline Cipriani serves as the Vice President for Inclusive Excellence at Colorado State University. Since joining CSU in August 2021, she has been at the forefront of strategic initiatives that promote equity and inclusion across the University. Dr. Cipriani is committed to creating a campus environment where every member of the community feels valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.
Dr. Cipriani oversees the development and implementation of campuswide policies and practices aimed at advancing inclusive excellence and supporting student success. Her work includes collaborating with faculty, staff, and students to foster a culture of equity and belonging. She is particularly focused on expanding opportunities by reducing barriers for members of historically underrepresented, underserved, and marginalized populations. She leads ongoing efforts to enhance inclusive workplace and classroom environments, applying an intersectional lens that is essential for boosting satisfaction, fostering a sense of belonging, and improving retention.
Dr. Cipriani, who earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from land-grant institutions, deeply believes in the mission of broadening access to education and advancing the public good. This commitment to the land-grant ideals informs her approach to leadership and her dedication to ensuring that CSU continues to fulfill its role as an inclusive, accessible, and impactful research institution. She believes that organizations can best achieve inclusive excellence through the rigorous examination and adjustment of pedagogy, policies, practices, and professional development opportunities.
Dr. Cipriani holds an M.S. in microbiology and genetics as well as a Ph.D. in molecular food microbiology from Purdue University. She earned a B.S. in biology from Prairie View A&M University.
