Dear CSU Community,

I am filming a message to our community today in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who demonstrated throughout his life the power of peaceful protest. And yet at this moment, we are watching in horror as Dr. King’s legacy and our democratic process come under assault in our nation’s capital.

I hope all of you can turn to your support networks right now and stay strong as this unfolds. I join with you in praying for everyone’s safety and that no one else is harmed.

I also join people around the country in calling for an end to this violence. I am so saddened for our nation today and remind us all of Dr. King’s words, “We must build dikes of courage to hold back the flood of fear.” Let us stand together, now more than ever.
