Assistant Vice President for Indigenous and Native American Affairs

Patrese Atine is a citizen of the Navajo Nation with diverse experience in education and federal Tribal policy. As Assistant Vice President for Indigenous and Native American Affairs, she leads CSU’s outreach to Tribal communities, works with the CSU community on Indigenous and Native American issues on campus, and fosters partnerships with Tribal leadership to increase student recruitment and retention. Prior to joining CSU, she developed and managed national advocacy efforts as the Director of Congressional and Federal Relations at the American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) in Washington, D.C. During her five years at AIHEC, she increased partnerships with federal agencies and advocated for legislation to meet unique needs of Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), students, and Tribal nations.

As a government and legislative affairs associate at the Navajo Nation Washington Office, Patrese developed legislative strategies to advance Tribal priorities related to education, health care, social services, and veterans affairs. Prior to her position with the Navajo Nation, Patrese worked at the Corporation for National and Community Service, Bureau of Indian Education, and the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs at the Department of the Interior in Washington, D.C.

She has served in several higher education roles as a teaching fellow at Harvard University, an Instructional Assistant at The George Washington University, and as an Equity and Inclusion Associate at the Lumina Foundation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Science Education from Brigham Young University, and a master’s degree in Education, Policy, Planning and Administration from Boston University.

Associate Vice President for Spur Strategy

Dr. Jim Bradeen serves as associate vice president for CSU Spur strategy, facilitating Fort Collins campus activities as CSU’s local senior leader at Spur and working closely with CSU Spur campus leadership and stakeholders across the larger Denver-Metro community. He is responsible for operations and communications for CSU Fort Collins at the CSU Spur campus, serving as a liaison for Spur-based activities for all eight CSU colleges, as well as the Office of the Vice President for Research, Office of Engagement and Extension, and other divisions and units. Dr. Bradeen is a professor in the Department of Agricultural Biology in the College of Agricultural Sciences at CSU.

Dr. Bradeen came to CSU from the University of Minnesota, where he’s served as a professor and head of the Department of Plant Pathology for nearly nine years. He was the founder and co-director of the Stakman-Borlaug Center, part of the University of Minnesota College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences.

June Greist is CSU’s Director of Presidential and Administrative Communications. She previously served as communications director for Bohemian Foundation from 2014-2023. Before her return to CSU in 2023, she held leadership roles in CSU’s Marketing and Communications Division from 1997-2005. Greist attended the University of Colorado as a President’s Leadership Scholar and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wellesley College.

Wayne Hall manages the IT needs of the Office of the President, Office of the Provost, and CSU System offices. He has served in CSU several roles, most recently with Academic Computing and Networking Services (ACNS) where he partnered with the Linux System Admin group and the Middleware group. Wayne is an alumnus of CSU, earning his Master’s degree from the College of Business and three graduate certificates (Project Management, CIS, and Business Intelligence).

Emily Lewis serves as the Executive Assistant to the President and is responsible for all requests and inquiries related to the president’s calendar and workflow. She has experience with project coordination, executive-level support, and accreditation.

Abby Marweg serves as an administrative assistant in the Office of the President. She additionally supports the Associate Vice President for Spur Strategy and the Assistant Vice President for Indigenous and Native American Affairs. Abby is an alumna of the university with an MA in ethnic studies.

Rico Munn
Chief of Staff

Rico Munn, former superintendent of Aurora Public Schools (2013-2023), is the Office of the President’s chief of staff. Munn’s experience also includes service as executive director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education and of the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies. He served on the Board of Governors of the CSU System from 2013-2020, including two years as chair; on the Colorado Board of Education from 2003-2007; and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Midland University. Munn graduated with a BA from Midland Lutheran College and earned his juris doctorate from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He also has a graduate certificate in crisis management from St. Joseph’s University.
