Dear CSU Community,

Welcome to a new year at Colorado State University! Whether you’re joining us for the first time or have been part of our university for decades, it’s exciting to begin the fall semester with such a talented and diverse community of faculty, staff and students.

This week, we truly appreciate the staff and volunteers whose efforts and smooth coordination make Ram Welcome and move-in a success. Tomorrow we’ll celebrate convocation with the class of 2027, and next week as classes get underway, our academic year will be in full swing. Students, we can’t wait to see the energy and ideas that you bring to campus. Faculty and staff, thank you for planning a year filled with enriching experiences and for delivering a world-class CSU education to our students.

This fall, CSU will embark on a new university-wide project called the Thematic Year of Democracy, a series of events aimed at community building and civic engagement. This initiative will connect our students, faculty, staff and community members in meaningful conversation about democracy. As a leading land grant institution, CSU is perfectly positioned to spearhead the civil discourse that is needed for a thriving democracy and productive society. The schedule of events has something for everyone, and I hope to see you engage in our thematic year.

You are an integral part of this academic community, and I look forward to talking with you in your classrooms, offices, laboratories and performance halls, and to cheering on our CSU Rams together.

Have a great semester!
